FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer an intensive driving course ?

No. One of the reasons why we don't offer intensive driving courses is that we would have to pull one of our driving instructor's off their day to day work as all of our team deliver pay as you go lessons. Therefore, it would be unfair on our pupils if we suddenly took a one or two week break to deliver an intensive.

How do I know if you have driving instructors near me ?

We get asked this question quite a lot. The simple answer is if you visit our prices page, it lists out all of the towns and cities we cover. If you see your area listed, then you're in luck. If you don't see an area you live in listed, then our advice is to get in touch with us as might just be moving into that area.

Do you offer automatic driving lessons ?

Yes. we have two instructors in our team who work in automatic cars and are able to offer automatic driving lessons in Basingstoke and Andover. We are always training or recruiting new instructors which means we trying to get an automatic instructor in all of the towns that we cover.

What are your driving lesson prices ?

Our prices vary from town to town or city to city. This means that you might find that learning in one town could be more expensive than other towns we cover. We are always looking to make our prices competitive within each area we cover. We analyse what other instructor's charge in that town and we try to either match or better it.

I'm interested in booking driving lessons with you

If you're interested in booking driving lessons with us, then that's great news. The easiest way to book a driving lesson with us is to simply fill out our contact form and a member of our office team will be in touch with you as soon as they possibly can.

Do you have the best driving instructors ?

Hmmm, we like to think so but this is a very hard statement to live by. There are on average 35, 000 driving instructors in the United Kingdom so it's impossible to make a statement like this. However, we are ORDIT registered and all of our instructors get regularly assessed and we all go on courses as part of our CPD so we can safely say that we are up to date with all the latest teaching and coaching techniques.

Coping with Stress When Driving

Stress while driving is a common experience for many people. Whether it's traffic congestion, aggressive drivers, or unfamiliar roads, the road can be a source of anxiety. However, it's crucial to manage stress while driving to ensure safety and overall well-being. In this blog, we'll explore effective strategies for coping with stress when behind the wheel.

Plan Ahead - One of the best ways to reduce stress when driving is to plan your journey in advance. Check traffic conditions, map out your route, and estimate the time it will take to reach your destination. This not only helps you avoid unexpected delays but also provides a sense of control over your journey, which can alleviate stress.

Practice Deep Breathing - Deep breathing exercises are a powerful tool for managing stress on the road. When you feel tension building, take a few slow, deep breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. This simple technique can help calm your nerves and refocus your mind.

Avoid Rush Hour - If possible, schedule your travel during off-peak hours to avoid the stress of heavy traffic. Rush hour can be incredibly frustrating, and spending hours stuck in traffic can elevate stress levels. Consider adjusting your work hours or using flexible scheduling to find a more relaxed driving time.

Mindful Driving - Practice mindfulness when you're behind the wheel. Focus on the present moment, pay attention to your surroundings, and avoid dwelling on stressful thoughts. Mindful driving can help you stay alert and reduce anxiety associated with driving.

Adapt Your Driving Style - Adjust your driving style to the conditions around you. If you encounter aggressive drivers or heavy traffic, stay patient and avoid engaging in confrontations. Defensive driving techniques can help you anticipate potential hazards and react calmly.

Conclusion - Coping with stress while driving is essential for your safety and well-being. By planning ahead, practicing relaxation techniques, and staying mindful, you can reduce stress levels and make your commute a more enjoyable experience. Remember that a calm and collected mindset is not only better for your health but also for the safety of everyone on the road.

Top Tips for Preparing for the UK Driving Test

  1. Study the Highway Code: Familiarise yourself with the rules and regulations outlined in the Highway Code. This is the fundamental source of information for UK road users and is essential for the theory test.
  2. Take Professional Lessons: Consider enrolling in a driving school with qualified instructors. They can teach you the correct techniques and provide valuable feedback on your driving skills.
  3. Practice with a Provisional License: Before taking your test, practice driving with a qualified supervisor (usually a family member or friend) using a provisional license. This gives you practical experience on the road.
  4. Book a Mock Test: Many driving schools offer mock driving tests. Taking one can simulate the test experience, helping you become more comfortable with the format and environment.
  5. Learn the Manoeuvres: Practice common manoeuvres like parallel parking, forward and reverse bay parking until you can perform them confidently and accurately.
  6. Driving in Different Conditions: Try to gain experience driving in various weather conditions, at different times of the day, and on different types of roads, including motorways, if possible.
  7. Take Care of Vehicle Maintenance: If you're using your own vehicle for the test, ensure it's in good working order. Check the lights, tires, brakes, and all other essential components.
  8. Understand Hazard Perception: For the theory test, practice the Hazard Perception test. This section evaluates your ability to identify and react to potential hazards on the road.
  9. Stay Calm and Confident: On the day of the test, stay calm and confident. Remember that the examiner is there to assess your driving, not to intimidate you. Take deep breaths if you feel nervous.
  10. Know the Test Routes: Familiarise yourself with the general test routes in your area, but don't rely on them entirely. The examiner can take you on different routes to assess your adaptability.
